Marlon Reyes-Delgado, 42, of Bridgeport was sentenced to 10 years in state prison, to 10 years, suspended after he serves five years in prison, followed by 10 years of probation, said Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney C. Robert Satti Jr.
Reyes-Delgado, who was sentenced before Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin, said: “I ask for forgiveness for what happened."
A Honduran citizen, Reyes-Delgado will be deported after he completes his prison term, officials said.
The 13-year-old girl told police the assault took place on Dec. 12, 2016, after Reyes-Delgado contacted her through Snapchat inviting her to his apartment. Once there she was sexually assaulted, police said.
She told her mother what happened when she returned home, who then contact police.
When questioned by police, Reyes-Delgado, who has children, eventually admitted to having sex with the girl but told police he was not proud of doing so.
